Although there is no one type of student we enroll, these profiles give you an indication of the students who are typical to The Deck House School.
52% of our students come from private schools and 48% from public schools.

The average length of stay is one year.

86% of our enrollment has been referred to us by educational consultants, 9% by other schools and 5% from other sources.

41% of our students have been to a therapeutic wilderness program.
“COLIN” came to us through a smaller New England boarding school. He had been dismissed due to breaking their zero tolerance policy regarding drugs. Once it was discerned by both the educational consultant and ourselves that the drugs were not the main issue, he joined us to finish his junior year. Colin has always looked a bit different, and was not able to be himself at his old school. He was chastised by other students, and categorized by the teachers. These facts, combined with his poor grades, really destroyed his self esteem. After a year with us, Colin is now thriving at a more traditional boarding school finishing his senior year.
“ROY” came to us as a senior from a private boarding school via a wilderness program and an educational consultant. Although he tested quite high on all intelligence tests, he was bored by school and therefore was not successful. His recently separated parents said that he had always been a good student but in the past year his grades had fallen dramatically. Once he joined us, Roy was able to focus on himself and realize that a high school education is important. He was with us for his senior year and is currently enrolled in a four-year college.
